Learning To Love Well
This month FLM will be focusing on sharing resources about Orthodox dating and we’re starting with an interview Paula Marchman recently had on the Orthodox Christian Network (OCN). Paula Marchman is a licensed professional counselor and the Managing Director for our ministry-FLM. She practices Christian psychotherapy, is a Level 2 Gottman-certified couples’ therapist, and facilitates the Journey of Marriage premarital seminars.
On the topic “Learning to Love Well”, Paula discusses getting ready to date, being open and authentic in your dating relationship, the beauty of Orthodox marriage as a sacrament and a path to salvation, overcoming resistance to commitment, and dealing with conflict by responding rather than reacting.
Most of the young single people I know at church are concerned about dating or the lack of dating in their lives. This interview gives a healthy, practical, and Orthodox perspective that could be helpful for people whether they are in a relationship or just looking for one. Married people would also benefit from listening to this because we all need inspiration to refocus our relationships!
In the coming weeks we’ll share other resources about dating and Orthodox relationships so check back for more on this topic!
