Who We Are
Family Life Ministry is a multimedia Orthodox outreach, providing spiritual nourishment and support for families, couples, clergy, and individuals encountering struggles in their spiritual and private lives.
Our History & Mission
Family Life Ministry was founded in 2011 by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios, who as the shepherd of Christ’s flock in Atlanta, recognized a profound spiritual need in his Metropolis. The families, couples, clergy, and individuals with whom he shared fellowship were struggling with the same types of issues in both their spiritual and private lives. The struggles of his flock touched him deeply and he felt compelled to act.
His Eminence, in his wisdom and love, had a vision for a ministry which would provide the resources and tools for the faithful to help them endure these struggles. He asked Ms. Paula Marchman, MA, LPC, an Orthodox Christian licensed counselor with a private practice, to lead the ministry on his behalf, side by side with Rev. Fr Gregory Georgiou.
Since its founding, Family Life Ministry has expanded to provide seminars for those journeying to marriage and those already married, books offering spiritual nourishment for teens, and a blog with a variety of topics. We’re in the process of publishing more books and starting a podcast in the near future.

Edna King

Edna King wanted to be a writer as a child, but followed a more practical path in school. She earned a Master’s Degree in early childhood education and taught elementary school for seventeen years before becoming a homemaker. Her husband Mark is a Deacon at Saint Mary of Egypt Russian Orthodox Church in Roswell, Georgia. Edna teaches Sunday School, bakes prosphora, and helps with the church garden. Father Deacon Mark and Edna have four children- three adult sons and their daughter who fell asleep in the Lord at the age of eight after a long battle with cancer. It was the blog Edna wrote about her daughter's journey with cancer that developed Edna's skills and interest in writing as a way of encouraging herself and others to trust God in all things. Later, she wrote many posts on an early blog for Family Life Ministry. Some of these blogs grew into books. Edna is one of the authors of Woven, a book for Orthodox teen girls, and Forged, its companion book for young men. Her latest book is One Good Thought, an inspirational gift book.
